Downtown Atlanta Inc. & United Way of Greater Atlanta Expand Economic Stability Partnership in 2026
April 07, 2026

For many individuals and families experiencing homelessness, the biggest barrier to stability isn’t just finding housing; it’s affording the upfront costs to secure it. First month’s rent, application fees, and utility deposits can quickly add up, keeping people trapped in a cycle of uncertainty. Many come to Atlanta seeking a better life, only to discover that the opportunities and support systems they hoped for don’t always materialize. For some, the most important step toward stability is reconnecting with family or returning to their home community, helping them get back to a place where they have established support and a foundation to rebuild their lives.
Through its continued partnership with United Way of Greater Atlanta, Downtown Atlanta Inc. (the artist formerly known as ADID) is breaking down those barriers. What began as a targeted housing initiative through the “Street to Home” program has now evolved into a more comprehensive model, one that not only places individuals into permanent housing, but also reconnects them with family and support systems.
Following the success of the initial $30,000 grant match, which helped permanently house 14 families and later supported reunification efforts in early 2026, the partnership has entered a new phase of growth.
As of March 1, a new 2:1 matching structure is in place, unlocking $60,000 in expanded funding to scale both housing placement and reunification efforts. This investment ensures that Downtown Atlanta Inc. can continue moving individuals directly from the street into stable housing while strengthening pathways back to family and long-term support networks.
The impact is already clear. In just its second year (2025), our reunification program successfully reconnected 301 individuals with family or support systems, with placements reaching as far as California, a nearly 150% increase over the program’s inaugural year.
Behind these numbers are real stories of transformation.
One powerful example of this impact is Anthony Robinson, whose journey was featured on 11 Alive News.

Formerly unhoused and struggling with addiction, Anthony was referred to Trinity Community Ministries by the Downtown Atlanta Inc. Outreach Supportive Services team in November 2024. Committing to personal growth, he began rebuilding his life with Trinity’s support.
In March 2025, with Trinity’s advocacy, Anthony was rehired by Downtown Atlanta Inc. as a member of the Public Space Clean Ambassador team - an important step toward stability and self-sufficiency. By September 2025, he had achieved two additional major milestones: graduating from the Trinity program and moving into his own apartment.
With continued assistance, including housing support made possible through Downtown Atlanta Inc.’s partnership with United Way of Greater Atlanta, Anthony secured permanent housing - a full-circle moment that illustrates the transformative power of coordinated support, opportunity, and investment.

Momentum continues into 2026. Inspired by stories like Anthony’s, a new housing partner reached out to Downtown Atlanta Inc., committed to providing two below-market units along the Atlanta Beltline. As of April 1, two individuals have moved into these units, supported by a funding match from the United Way of Greater Atlanta and Downtown Atlanta Inc., turning opportunity into immediate, tangible impact for Atlantans seeking stability and a fresh start.
This is what strategic partnership looks like in action.
Through expanded collaboration with United Way of Greater Atlanta, Downtown Atlanta Inc. is not just continuing “Street to Home” – we are scaling it. By combining housing resources, reunification strategies, and innovative funding, Downtown Atlanta Inc. is helping create a more sustainable pathway out of homelessness and long-term stability for Atlanta’s most vulnerable residents.
