Notes With Nakasha | August 2025

August 27, 2025

As a major transportation hub, Atlanta attracts people from diverse backgrounds and is regarded as the heart of the South.

Through our work at the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID), we have encountered individuals who have ended up in Atlanta for a multitude of reasons, such as a job, a fresh start, a relationship, or even because they heard Atlanta is the place to be. But life happens, jobs fall through, rent increases, and love turns cold. Sudden changes in financial situations can mean that ends stop meeting and people find themselves unhoused, facing hardship, and needing assistance to return home.

We launched Pathway to Home in January 2024 as a solution designed to reconnect those in immediate crisis with their support systems.

ADID's Supportive Services team provides compassionate assistance tailored to each individual's unique situation. By meeting individuals where they are, we address their basic needs with care and dignity, and empower them on their path to stability. This work is essential, and I'm happy to report, successful!

Since January, ADID's Pathway to Home initiative has successfully reunified 125 individuals with their loved ones. While there is so much more work to be done, it's nice to be able to share some good news.
