Details

The African Film Festival Atlanta (AFFATL), powered by the African Film & Arts Foundation Inc. (AFAF), returns for its fifth edition from March 26–30, 2026, at the historic Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. As Georgia’s first and only African film festival, AFFATL is dedicated to showcasing bold, diverse, and globally resonant films by and about people of African descent.

This year’s theme, CTRL + CULTURE = AFRICA’S NEXT CINEMA CODE, explores how African filmmakers are merging cultural heritage with technology and digital innovation to shape the future of African storytelling. The festival features narrative and documentary films, filmmaker Q&As, panels, live performances, and a Vendor Village with African food, fashion, and crafts.

Schedule:
Opening Night (Thu): 6 PM – 9 PM
Fri–Sun: 12 PM – 8 PM
Closing Night (Mon): 6 PM – 9 PM

Ticket options include single screenings, day passes, and full festival passes (details TBA). The Plaza Theatre is wheelchair accessible with nearby parking and public transit options.

Film submissions are now open via https://filmfreeway.com/AfricanFilmFestATL until January 9, 2026.
