Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) was founded in 1998 as an artist-run organization seeking to amplify and elevate the medium of photography in Atlanta while supporting artists’ careers. Quickly, ACP became well-regarded for its lecture series and annual festival celebrating photography and its makers, which grew to become the largest community-based photography festival in the country.

For 25 years, ACP has produced dynamic programs and art activations, brought world-renowned photographers to Atlanta, and provided artists with educational and professional development opportunities. Photography enthusiasts, artists, and creatives know October is synonymous with photography in Georgia, and our 2022 programs reached over 300,000 people.

After much thoughtful consideration and strategic planning, on our 25th anniversary, Atlanta Celebrates Photography made the bold move to rebrand as the Atlanta Center for Photography (ACP). With that, on October 26, 2023, we opened the ACP Project Lab, the organization’s first year-round exhibition and programming space focused on solo exhibitions and the commission of new art. This unique platform supports our sustained commitment to broadening the reach and influence of lens-based media in the American South; it is a dynamic space that creates new opportunities for our community to convene, exchange, and engage in an arts dialogue.
