Central Atlanta Progress Showcases a Redefined Downtown

at 2019 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration

Event will honor Downtown leaders and institutions and celebrate CAP/ADID accomplishments

ATLANTA (February 8, 2019) – Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) will host their 2019 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration on Tuesday, March 12 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Beginning with registration and a networking breakfast at 7:00 a.m., more than 1,000 of the city’s top business and civic leaders will enjoy a dynamic program hosted by CAP leadership and special guests.

Themed Downtown Redefined, the event will celebrate a new beginning and visual identity for the organizations, as well as those who are working to redefine the future of Downtown Atlanta.

“Both CAP/ADID and Downtown have noticeably evolved in the past year,” said A.J. Robinson, CAP/ADID President. “We’ll reflect on those changes at our Annual Meeting, and, more importantly, we’ll look ahead and the great things in store for our community.”

CAP will formally install its 2019-20 leadership, including new Board Chairman Eddie Meyers of PNC Financial Services, and, in keeping with tradition, present three prestigious awards to community iconoclasts. Former Central Atlanta Progress and Metro Atlanta Chamber president Sam Williams will receive the Dan Sweat Award, and Vince Smith, former executive director of Atlanta Union Mission and The Gateway Center, will be given the Turner Community Leadership Award. The Marcus Downtown Economic Impact Award will be presented to Georgia Aquarium. Information about the 2019 award winners can be found at CAP/ADID’s website.

The 2019 CAP/ADID Annual Meeting is presented by Delta Air Lines and made possible through the generous support of Gold Level sponsors PNC Bank, Troutman Sanders, and Selig Enterprises Inc. Silver Level sponsors are Balfour Beatty, CallRail, HOK, Jacobs, IKE Smart City, SunTrust Bank, tvsdesign, and Legacy Ventures. Bronze Level sponsors are Jones Day, McGuireWoods Consulting, My Friend’s Nephew, Novare Group, Silverman Construction Program Management Inc., and Pond & Company.
