CAP Town Hall Meeting on July 24 to Feature

Community Panel Discussion About Homelessness in Atlanta

Free, public event to take place at College Football Hall of Fame

ATLANTA (June 27, 2019) – Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) will host their semi-annual Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, July 24 at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame, located at 250 Marietta St NW. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., attendees will have the opportunity to network over coffee with key Downtown stakeholders, residents and business owners prior to the 8:00 a.m. program.

CAP Town Hall meetings are free and open to the public and designed to enlighten the community on Downtown’s progress. Since 1941, CAP has been behind the scenes integrating ideas, building partnerships, and coordinating efforts to improve the central city. Downtown is poised for substantial growth and development, and now—more than ever—is a great time to join the conversation and learn about the influencers and initiatives re-imagining our city.

The July 24 program will include project updates from CAP/ADID President A.J. Robinson, as well as a briefing by the Atlanta Police Department.

The featured agenda item will be a community panel focused on homelessness in Atlanta, moderated by Robinson. Panelists include:

  • Cathryn Marchman, Executive Director, Partners for HOME
  • Janika Robinson, Woodruff Park Case Manager, Hope Atlanta
  • Bec Cranford, Director of Community Engagement & Volunteer Services, Gateway Center

The panel is the first step in CAP’s new effort to spearhead a public awareness campaign intended to educate the Atlanta community about the current state of homelessness in the city, the work being done by service providers and stakeholders, and tactics the general public can employ to become part of the solution to making homelessness brief, rare, and nonrecurring.

An open forum question and answer session will conclude the program.

“We’re excited to offer something new at this Town Hall event,” said A.J. Robinson, CAP/ADID President. “Homelessness is a complex, pressing issue for the Atlanta community, and we look forward to facilitating a candid, enriching discussion about the important work being done in this field.”
