A plan to reconnect Downtown Atlanta with a $400 million project called The Stitch is still very much alive, according to a report from Curbed Atlanta. First proposed in 2016, The Stitch envisions capping the Downtown Connector by constructing a ¾-mile platform over the interstate, extending from the Civic Center MARTA station at West Peachtree Street to Piedmont Avenue. On top of the platform would be new greenspace, homes, office buildings, hotels and more. The project is still in the Atlanta Downtown Master Plan and the Urban Land Institute is completing an evaluation this week.

Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) will host their 2019 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration on Tuesday, March 12 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Beginning with registration and a networking breakfast at 7:00 a.m., more than 1,000 of the city’s top business and civic leaders will enjoy a dynamic program hosted by CAP leadership and special guests. Themed Downtown Redefined, the event will celebrate a new visual identity for the organizations and 2019-20 leadership will be installed, including new Board Chairman Eddie Meyers of PNC Financial Services. Tickets are available for purchase online at AtlantaDowntown.com.
