Broad Street SW & Garnett MARTA Plaza Enhancements
OVERVIEW
The Project includes streetscape elements intended to improve the safety, accessibility, and activation of the right of way for pedestrians and cyclists. The Project limits are the public right-of-way along Broad Street SW, beginning north of M.L. King, Jr. Drive and extending southward for three city blocks through Trinity Avenue SW and continuing on the previous Broad St right-of-way which now forms the plaza entrance to the Garnett MARTA rail station.
The Project is funded primarily with Invest Atlanta Eastside Tax Allocation bond funds and MARTA Station Rehabilitation funds. City of Atlanta AURA Bond funds will support re-paving the corridor and Trees Atlanta resources will provide and plant the street trees.
SoDo Atlanta LLC, the private development team leading the transformational rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of over fifty buildings and sites in South Downtown is the visionary behind the project. SoDo funded the project design work lead by Kimley-Horn & Associates.
The Atlanta Downtown Improvement District is serving as the Project Implementation Manager.
