Important of our Work
Another priority focus of CAP is its efforts to make Downtown Atlanta environmentally and economically sustainable. Through our work, we are able to foster a community focused specifically on sustainability and make Downtown a greener place to live, travel and work.
Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge
In partnership with the City of Atlanta, we launched the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge in 2011. ABBC was one of three initial pilot cities participating in the National Better Buildings Challenge, a program of the U.S. Department of Energy. To date, approximately 590 Atlanta buildings, comprising 111 million square feet, are enrolled in the program. Citywide portfolio savings are at over 20% for both energy and water, which means ABBC has officially reached the program targets.

Downtown Sustainability Action Plan
Central Atlanta Progress is in the process of creating the first ever Downtown sustainability plan. Looking at topics from water and energy to access and mobility to the human experience, this plan will provide Downtown Atlanta with a comprehensive guide for sustainable practices.
