Downtown Mural Bike Tour
October 01, 2020
Atlanta is a well-known hotspot for murals and the city now boasts more than 1,000! Downtown alone has 80+ murals, including the iconic John Lewis mural on Auburn Ave. and the famous South Downtown alligator.
Through Atlanta Downtown’s Art & Entertainment Atlanta program, Living Walls, and other organizations with an art and media focus, public art continues to activate buildings and blank walls and infuse the Downtown neighborhood with art, light, and cultural programming.
When driving through the city in a car, it can be easy to miss the constellation of artwork that enhances Downtown’s vibrancy and character. Biketober is a perfect opportunity to slow-roll through the city on two wheels and (re)discover your favorite murals Downtown.
We’ve put together a self-guided bike tour with turn-by-turn instructions so you can check them out for yourself. Pick one loop or combine the two to start exploring!
- North Loop- 4.3 miles, 24+ murals
- South Loop- 3.2 miles, 38+ murals
Both routes kick off near the Five Points MARTA station on Marietta Street for easy access by transit, bike, or car.
- Information about getting to Downtown
- Connecting PATH trails: Stone Mountain and Luckie Street
