#BeDowntown for These Five Memorial Day Weekend Events

Whether you’re an out of town visitor or a local wanting to take a holiday staycation, here are five events to #BeDowntown for during Memorial Day Weekend.

1. MomoCon, Georgia World Congress Center

MomoCon was born in 2005 at Georgia Tech. Eleven years later, it boasts over 20,000 in attendance, drawing in crowds of all ages who share interests in Japanese anime, American animation, comics, video games, tabletop games and costuming / cosplay. If you find yourself in the Centennial Park District this weekend, keep your eyes open for some amazing costumes and the infectious energy of the convention. If you're attending MomoCon, consult this MARTA Guide for how to get to the GWCC, and remember the Streetcar is nearby, too.

2. Kick Off the Summer Bash, The Children's Museum of Atlanta

If you're looking for something fun for the kids to do, the Children's Museum has Saturday afternoon filled with playful programming. Their Summer Bash will include dancing, hula hooping, arts and crafts and a lab project, in addition to their regular programming and exhibitions. Catch the Mystery of the Mayan Medallion exhibit before it closes on May 31, and maybe pack swimsuits--Centennial Olympic Park's Fountain of Rings is just up the street.

3. Mexico vs. Paraguay soccer match, the Georgia Dome

During the Mexican National Team's U.S. tour, catch their match against Paraguay's National Team on Saturday. Doors open at 3:00 p.m., and kickoff is at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are still available for as low as $30, and be sure to remember the Dome's clear bag policy. The Dome is also highly MARTA accessible and a great way to avoid holiday weekend traffic.

4. Free Admission for Military, College Football Hall of Fame

The Hall will honor all active duty and retired military with FREE admission on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day Weekend! Simply present your valid military ID at the box office. Enjoy all the amenities of the Fan Experience, and keep in mind that you're a stone's throw from great Centennial Park District restaurants for lunch or dinner.

5. Atlanta Dream vs. Indiana Fever, Philips Arena

The Dream's season is in full spring, so grab tickets for Sunday's game at 3:00 p.m. If you're a teacher, be sure to use the Teacher Appreciation Promo code TEACHER for a BOGO discount. Support Atlanta's WNBA team on their home court and Run with the Dream!
